Dear Alumni, Parents, and Friends of The Order,

I, on behalf of all of the actives of the Alpha Sigma Chapter, hope all of you are having a terrific summer season. The past few months have been busy at Georgia Tech: full of great events, fun times, and, of course, school.

I hope this “summer” edition of the KA Newsletter excites all of you for the upcoming events at KA and Georgia Tech. We have an eventful Fall semester ahead of us, so be sure to mark your calendar with all of the events so none are missed.

IMPORTANT: Please carefully read the “Parents Weekend” section under “Fall 2024” below, as KA and other fraternities are moving Parents Weekend to the Weekend of October 5th. This is a somewhat last-minute and big change, so be sure to adjust your plans (and calendar) accordingly. There is a “condensed” Fall calendar just below this letter.

We all want to see all of you, Parents and Alumni, at our Fall events, so come when you can! Please reach out in any manner with any questions or concerns about the chapter. I would love to hear what you have to say for upcoming Alumni and/or Parents events, and I will do my best to get your input into action.

Thank you for being involved with the Alpha Sigma Chapter, and we all look forward to getting back on campus and spending time with the Georgia Tech KA Family. Go Jackets!

2 FALL ‘24 PREVIEW

The Fall of 2024 will be home to many events at the Alpha Sigma Chapter, including some Tech Football!

FALL WORK WEEK 2024 [08/14 - 08/17]

Per usual, some of the days before school begins again are dedicated to getting the KA House ready for the fall semester. Under the leadership of our House Managers, Will Jennings and Luke Atkinson, all of the brothers will spend the Wednesday to Saturday before school begins mopping, scrubbing, pressure-washing, and tending to the house.

**COLLEGE GAMEDAY IN DUBLIN, IRELAND** [08/24]
To kick off the 2024 College Football Season, the Yellow Jackets will play Florida State in Dublin, Ireland. The game will take place on Saturday, August 24 at Noon Eastern, and you can watch it on ESPN. The crew from the infamous *College Gameday* on ESPN will also be there.
**FIRST HOME FOOTBALL GAME: GSU @ GT** [08/31]
One week after the Ireland game, Tech will host Georgia State at Bobby Dodd Stadium for the first “true” home game of the season. Kickoff will be at 8:00 pm, and if you are not on the Flats, you can watch the game on ACC Network.

PARENTS WEEKEND FALL 2024 [10/04 - 10/05]

IMPORTANT NEWS: KA, along with the rest of I.F.C. at Georgia Tech, have decided to “move” our Parents Weekend to the Weekend of October 4th and 5th. This is the same weekend as the home football game against Duke.

The school announced (this past Spring) that Parents Weekend would take place on the weekend of the 18th & 19th of October. On this weekend, the Jackets will play Notre Dame at Mercedes Benz Stadium downtown. Because of this off-campus playing site, I.F.C. and KA will be hosting our Parents Weekend two weeks earlier in order to have the football game be an on-campus event. Georgia Tech will stubbornly still have their Parents Weekend on the Notre Dame weekend. Make sure to update your calendars so that Parents Weekend is October 4th and 5th.

Just like last year, there will be a Parents Weekend Party on Friday Night, October 4th at the KA House. And then, on Saturday, we will have a tailgate before the football game against Duke in Bobby Dodd Stadium.

GATECH ANNUAL “BENZ” GAME [10/19]

As mentioned, Georgia Tech will be playing in Mercedes Benz Stadium on October 19. This game is special as the fifth-ranked Notre Dame team comes to play the Jackets. Tickets for this showdown are only available through third-party vendors and Georgia Tech “3-Game Mini Packs.” Come join all of the brothers and GT fans for one of the biggest games of the year.

ALPHA SIGMA CHAPTER 125th ANNIVERSARY BANQUET [11/08]

As this year, 2024, marks the 125th year of KA at Georgia Tech, we will be hosting a banquet to celebrate on the Friday before the Homecoming Game. More details will come soon, but are excited to see a ton on Alumni at the banquet and the game on Saturday.

HOMECOMING GAME [11/09]

This year’s homecoming game is set. Georgia Tech will host Miami on Saturday, August 9th. We hope to see as many KA and Georgia Tech alumni as possible, and possibly we will see another thriller of a game against Miami like last year. The brothers will be smoking Boston Butts again for the tailgate, just like last year.

3 GRADUATING SENIORS

Please join us in congratulating the brothers graduating from Georgia Tech this past spring.

4 SPRING 2024 INITIATED BROTHERS

The Spring 2024 Pledge Class consists of 5 members, and will join the 20 person fall class as “PC ‘23.” Initiated in April, the new brothers are Amin Finan, Seth Adams, Chess Morris, Sam Smith, and William McKillip (L to R). See the Appendix for more information on the new brothers.

5 FALL 2024 RUSH

With the Spring Semester in full-gear, the Rush Committee is working hard to build a strong Fall 2024 pledge class. Our Rush Chairman, Charles Daniel, is looking forward to receiving any and all recommendations for incoming freshmen or transfer students. 6 SPRING ‘24 RECAP

The spring semester is now in the past, and so is the 2023-2024 school year in Midtown. Here is a quick summary of the “happenings” from an eventful spring at KA.

In Early March, the first annual KA Mom’s Day was a huge success.

On March 27th, the GT Ducks Unlimited Annual Banquet took place, led by one of our own, Lewis Scruggs.

When April came, brothers, their parents, and alumni hit the links for the 2024 KA Golf Tournament at Bear’s Best Atlanta.

After the Golf Tournament concluded, it was time for the 2024 Spring Parents Weekend. There was live music and good Mexican food. Thank you to the Mom’s Committee for their help with both the Mom’s Day and Parents Weekend!

In May, after finals ended, the brothers embarked on the annual Rose Ball trip to Panama City Beach.

7 HOUSING CORP

If any Alumni of the Alpha Sigma Chapter (any age) is interested in helping manage the house and projects at the house, we are looking to add members to the Housing Corp Board. Joining the board would only require attendance to monthly meetings with the board and the Chapter Leadership. If you are interested please send an email using this link.
